#1 - Moulin De Province: try their Symphonie Cherry Chocolate Mousse dome cake. It’s small enough that you don’t have to share (that’s right, get your own cake) :0) It’s simply divine, melts in your mouth and ends with a nutty crunch; it’s worth every single calorie.
#2 – The Cupcake Lounge: it’s hard to find a cupcake where the icing isn’t sugary sweet and where the cake itself is actually good. The CupcakeLlounge is different though, focusing on taste more than looks (thought their cupcakes do look appetizing)…the icing is creamy and delicious, and all the cakes can stand on their own; they taste amazing and are not meant to be just a prop for the icing. My favorites? The key lime and coconut cupcakes…mmmm
#3 – Piccolo Grande & Pure Gelato: good ice cream is welcome summer or winter, and the flavours at Piccolo Grande and Pure Gelato are delicious…every flavour is non-ambiguous, it tastes exactly as it should: Mango tastes like mango pulp, chocolate hazelnut tastes like you’re guiltily stealing a spoonful of nutella out of a jar, and cinnamon and ginger taste even better than spice cake. This is another dessert that is worth the calories…
#4 – Zaks Milkshakes: nothing beats Zak’s thick milkshakes, with 1/4 of it served in the steel mixer cup. And for some reason, I always crave these “cups of fat” with a basket of Zak’s curly spicy fries…don’t scoff until you try it it’s the ultimate comfort food.
# 5 – Oh So Good & Memories: Both these classics offer decadent cakes. My personal faves are the Pink Velvet Spice Cake form Oh So Good and the Berry Pies at Memories (remember to warm the pies up!).
